Cathie Houston and Donna Cole provided Hamilton Township’s Council with details of their proposal to make Council meetings available online. The proposal was well received by the Mayor, most Councillors and the almost capacity crown of interested residents.
Northumberland Medical Arts Inc.(NMAI) has requested relief from, or a donation of, approximately $240,000 in Development Charges and $72,000 in building permit fees for a total of $312,000. NMAI is a not-for-profit corporation which will oversee the construction, leasing and operation of a medical arts building on land it will lease from Northumberland Hills Hospital.
Cobourg Councillor Debra McCarthy welcomed the Cobourg Taxpayers Group during a tour of the newly re-opened Northumberland Art Galley in early November. On hand to view the collection of art were CTA members from left to right: Ted Williams, William Smith, Lydia Smith, Paul Pagnuelo, Debra McCarthy (Councillor), Dennis Nabieszko, Gerry Walker, Bill Stuckey, Ken Strauss and Warren McCarthy.
The Cobourg Taxpayers Association (CTA) presented some key recommendations on the Town budget process.
Some of the key highlights of the CTA submission:
On September 1st, Lydia Smith wrote a letter to Cobourg asking for an explanation of why the Town’s staffing in the Parks and Recreation departments had grown much faster than the Town had grown. Mayor Gil Brocanier immediately declared it to be factually wrong and then on October 19, CAO Stephen Peacock wrote an official response.
