Council voted unanimously to keep the beach closed until August 31, 2020. Council heard from citizens overwhelmingly to keep the beach closed. The logistics and cost of opening the beach without endangering the safety of beach goers and town employees were too great.

Earlier this month, a report from the Netherlands Tourist Board announced a remarkable policy change: Acknowledging that “more is not always better,” the board will no longer actively promote its country as a tourist destination.
