The Cobourg Taxpayers Association (CTA) today applauded Council’s 6-1 decision to decline the NMAI fee waiver.
“This represents a huge victory for the CTA and Cobourg taxpayers”, said CTA President Lydia Smith.
“We have argued from the beginning that public funds should not be used to fund a private sector commercial building and that it was not permissible under the Municipal Act”.
The CTA hopes that you enjoy our first annual report card for our councillors. The idea was created in response to the report card done by the Northumberland News on June 25, 2015. We thought it was sadly out of touch and decided to do our own.
We asked the question “Do you support having all Council meetings video-recorded and available on YouTube?” The results of the mini poll are:
I agree 97%
I disagree 3%
We also asked each of the Councillors about video recording Council meetings.
Council within their approved Strategic Plan under Objective #1 Ensuring open, clear and timely communications has identified 1.2 Broadcast all open meetings of Council. Council supported this outcome, in principle. Under General Government, I am currently working with Ms.
