At a special Council meeting held on November 26, 2018, Cobourg’s Ombudsman provided a report which upheld the CTA’s complaint that its members were barred from a public meeting they should have been allowed to attend and not provided with agenda material they requested.

Open Letter to the Mayor of Cobourg

At the September 30 Council meeting, the mayor abused his position of power and betrayed the trust of Cobourg residents by slamming the “vocal minority” and telling them to move away if they don’t like it here.

The Cobourg Taxpayers Association has responded with an Open Letter to the mayor with copies to current Councillors, Municipal Candidates, other Northumberland Ratepayer groups and the media.

CTA calls for major changes to Council remuneration. And Council kicks the can down the road


Update 5/25/2018:
Council on May 22, 2018 rejected the Ad-hoc Renumeration Committee’s proposed increase. Although not fully accepting Paul Pagnuelo’s recommendation of increasing Councillor’s salaries by 100%, a motion was passed to at least increase the Councillor salaries by a quarter of what Paul recommended.
