In Ontario the prices that local electricity distribution companies such as Lakefront Utilities can charge their customers are set by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).
Every five years Lakefront proposes a “price list” for the next four years. This year was Lakefront’s time to propose charges for January 2022 to January 2027.
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) rejected the objection Lakefront Utilities Inc. (LUI) filed with the OEB with regards to the Freedom of Information (FOI) cost claim of $72 made by the Cobourg Taxpayers Association (CTA). The OEB wrote in their report:
“The OEB allows the CTA’s cost claim related to the FOI request.
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has issued its final rate order for Lakefront Utilities Inc. (LUI) electricity rates.
LUI posted a summary of the recent OEB hearings on their website.

Lakefront Utilities has posted a summary of the recent Ontario Energy Board (OEB) hearings on their website and you published an article based on the contents.
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has issued its final rate order for Lakefront Utilities Inc. (LUI) electricity rates.
Per the OEB Final Rate Order: “The total monthly bill for a typical residential customer with an average monthly consumption of 750 kWh will increase by 0.61% or $0.88.”
In June, the Cobourg Taxpayers Association (CTA) applied to be a designated intervenor in the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) hearings with regards to Lakefront Utilities seeking approval for changes to the rates charged for electricity distribution, to be effective January 1, 2017.
