CTA Meets with Town Staff

Lydia Smith, Paul Pagnuelo, and Dennis Nabieszko met with Stephen Peacock, Ian Davey, Treasurer, and Melissa Henke on November 12, 2015 to discuss Lydia Smith’s Letter on Parks & Recreation Staffing. All of the questions were answered to the satisfaction of the CTA.

Taxpayers Association slams CAO’s defence of staffing levels

On September 1st, Lydia Smith wrote a letter to Cobourg asking for an explanation of why the Town’s staffing in the Parks and Recreation departments had grown much faster than the Town had grown. Mayor Gil Brocanier immediately declared it to be factually wrong and then on October 19, CAO Stephen Peacock wrote an official response.

“Week in Review” on 89.7 FM Oct 30, 2015

Lydia Smith, CTA President and Paul Pagnuelo, CTA treasurer discuss with John Hill the report by CAO Stephen Peacock regarding Lydia Smith’s letter of September 1st on the increase in Parks & Recreation staffing. Mayor Gil Brocanier incorrectly declared the letter to be factually wrong and the CAO report does not support the Mayor’s declaration.

CAO Report to Council Regarding Parks and Recreation Staffing Levels

The report by CAO Stephen Peacock regarding Lydia Smith’s letter of September 1st raises more questions than it provides answers.

However, what it does do is vindicate Ms. Smith from the Mayor’s unfounded statement at the September 15th Council meeting that the numbers used in her letter contained “so much erroneous information”.

​Town wants to add another $130,000+ employee

It seems that the Town wants to keep growing the Sunshine list and your taxes by creating and advertising for a new Director of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Culture.

The sunshine list comprises those government employees that earn more than $100,000 and is published each year by the Ontario government.
