At the Committee of the Whole Council meeting on February 19, 2019, Council voted against continuing with the floating waterfront playground. The vote was 4 to 3 against.
Voting for the playground was Nicole Beatty, Aaron Burchat, and Brian Darling.
Voting against the playground was John Henderson, Suzanne Seguin, Emily Chorley, and Adam Bureau.

It is vital that municipalities such as Cobourg develop a strategy before this becomes reality.
The proposed changes to the existing Council Proceedings Procedural Bylaw have us concerned that these changes further restrict the voices of Cobourg residents. We ask all our supporters to attend the public meeting tentatively scheduled for January 28, 2019 to make their voices heard.
The cities of Cambridge, Waterloo, Kitchener and the Region of Waterloo have launched a new public engagement platform: Engage Waterloo Region.
The new tool gives citizens the opportunity to have their say on local projects and initiatives. With evolving needs and the advancement of online engagement, the cities and the Region have switched to a new platform that will better facilitate public engagement through more robust tools and a modern, user-friendly design.
In the U.S., only 3 to 5 percent of fire department calls nationally are related to building fires. It is probably similar here in Canada. There is an interesting article questioning the rationale for dispatching huge fire trucks to non-firefighting situations.
