2019 Public Budget Submissions

On January 14, 2019, the Town of Cobourg held its public budget meeting. Not all of the submissions were requesting money from the Town.

Bryan Lambert’s presentation challenged Council that Cobourg doesn’t have a revenue problem. It has a spending problem.

Broken Promises Early in New Council Term?

Waterloo Region Launches New Public Engagement Platform

The cities of Cambridge, Waterloo, Kitchener and the Region of Waterloo have launched a new public engagement platform: Engage Waterloo Region.

The new tool gives citizens the opportunity to have their say on local projects and initiatives. With evolving needs and the advancement of online engagement, the cities and the Region have switched to a new platform that will better facilitate public engagement through more robust tools and a modern, user-friendly design.

Are Fire Trucks and Engines Too Big?

In the U.S., only 3 to 5 percent of fire department calls nationally are related to building fires. It is probably similar here in Canada. There is an interesting article questioning the rationale for dispatching huge fire trucks to non-firefighting situations.
