Although most peope are not interested in the process, when a zoning change comes up for consideration, it can become a real issue for citizens.
On April 30, 2018, Council voted five to two in favour of a rezoning that allows for a school in New Amherst. Councillors Forrest Rowden and Suzanne Seguin were the only Councillors who truly represented the public by voting against the rezoning.

This week, we saw that citizens can convince their elected representatives to change their minds. The residents of Abbott Boulevard in Cobourg made a presentation to the Committee of the Whole on May 29 opposing having a sidewalk built on their street.
