During the Town’s budget review on December 8, 2020, the Art Gallery of Northumberland (AGN) was included as part of the Divisional Staff Presentations for the 2021 budget meetings.
When did the AGN become part of one of the Town’s Divisions?
The AGN is important to the cultural community with the Town already significantly contributing to their ongoing success.
Does the Town now own the AGN? If not, why is the AGN being given preferential treatment over all other community organizations?
Taxpayers should not be misled into believing that the AGN is part of the Town’s budget. All community organizations need to be treated fairly and equitably when coming forward for grants from the Town. None should be given preferential treatment.
We ask the CAO and Council to Not include the AGN as if it were part of the Town budget.
